BIRD IN A NEST by Rachel Katz

Begin with a square of thin paper of at least 6 inches. Tissue foil or double tissue makes the shaping of the nest (without tearing the paper) much easier.

1 Color facing up will be color of the nest. Fold the top corner to the bottom. 2 Fold points down to bottom point. 3 With your finger on the top point, fold loose flaps outward as shown.   4 Fold singer layer up.

5 Fold down about 1/3 for bird's beak. 6 This should be the result. Turn over. 7 Fold lower point up. 8 Put thumbs in opening at the bottom and squash sides together. See the next step.

9 Pinch small triangle beak and lift it out a bit. Press it flat. 10 Fold central triangle into the model. 11 Fold up bottom triangle about 1/3. Press flat. 12 Like this. Repeat behind.

13 Forming the nest. Separate at the bottom and press your thumbs at the marked places to indent the paper. Now carefully continue to turn the paper outside in until you have a nest. ( Note: the triangles folded in step 11 should end up inside the nest. ) 14 Here is the completed Bird-in-A-Nest!
